BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers and the Beijing Ducks both collected their seventh straight wins on Sunday to lead the way in the 2025-26 Chinese Basketball Association league regular season.
Edmond Sumner had 24 points and Trevelin Queen added 21 as Guangdong held off the Shanxi Loongs 95-89 to improve to a 7-0 win-loss record.
Guangdong established an 80-62 lead at the end of the third quarter, but Shanxi pulled within 86-83 with three minutes remaining with a 21-6 burst in the fourth. Hu Mingxuan made a three-pointer and Jared Sullinger added two jumpers to push Guangdong up 93-85 with 1:20 to go before Sullinger's pair of free throws with 18.4 seconds left sealed the away victory for Guangdong.
Sullinger finished with 9 points and 15 rebounds for the Southern Tigers.
The Beijing Ducks remain the only other unbeaten team in the CBA after trouncing the Fujian Sturgeons 96-70. Lei Meng led five Beijing players in double digits as the Ducks secured their third straight win on the road.
Beijing outscored Fujian 31-10 in the second quarter for a 40-27 cushion at halftime and enlarged their lead to 71-47 before the start of the fourth.
Also on Sunday, the Qingdao Eagles beat the Shandong Heroes 93-87 for their sixth win in seven tries, the Ningbo Rockets edged the Tianjin Pioneers 101-98, the Nanjing Monkey Kings eased past the Jiangsu Dragons 99-81, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls saw off the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 95-77 and the Guangzhou Loong Lions defeated the Jilin Northeast Tigers 87-74.
In Saturday's action, the Beijing Royal Fighters beat the Liaoning Flying Leopards 81-77, the Shanghai Sharks overwhelmed the Sichuan Blue Whales 88-52, and the Zhejiang Lions demolished the Shenzhen Aviators 110-80. ■
